DANCE
Children can gain numerous benefits and great pleasure from good dance training. Dance challenges the mind and body, while providing an exhilarating sense of accomplishment through body control. Dance training develops mental alertness and a strong flexible, well-coordinated body, as well as musical awareness.

Creative Movement
Designed for very young children (ages 2-3), this class blends natural rhythms and movement (running, skipping, jumping) with structured dance instruction. Simple ballet, tap and gymnastics movements are introduced in a nurturing atmosphere.

Saturdays, 9-10:30am

Ballet
These classes comprise a complete program of study in classical ballet technique and style from beginner through advanced levels. Students learn the five positions of the feet and arms, the outward rotation of the legs known as “turn-out,” and the concept of performing difficult movements with apparent ease. Ballet is generally the first subject taught and it is extremely important in developing all other dance disciplines.

Gymnastics classes will allow students to use their energy constructively as they learn proper gymnastic technique, movement patterns, coordination and flexibility. Self-confidence can also be achieved in this fun learning atmosphere. Quality gymnastic mats are used as the students learn simple acrobatics as well as choreographed floor exercises. Various gymnastic poses, splits, rolls, “flips” and walks are taught. Class exercises aim for increased comfort and confidence to do more advanced work.
